Philosopher's Stone

It was the doctrine of the alchemist, that there was a certain mineral, the discovery of which was the object of their art, because, being mixed with the baser metals, it would transmut these into gold. This mineral, known only to the adepts, they called lapisphilosophorum, or the philosopher's stone. Hitchcock, who wrote a book in 1857, (Alchemy and Alchemists,) to maintain the proposition that alchemy was a symbolic science, that its subject was Man, and its object the perfection of men, asserts that the philosopher's stone was a symbol of man. He quotes the old Hermetic philosopher, Isaac Holland, as saying that "though a man be poor, yet may he very well attain unto it [the work of perfection,] and may be employed in making the philosopher's stone."

And Hitchcock, (p.76,) in commenting on this, says: "That is every man , no matter how humble his vocation, may do the best he can in his place - may 'love mercy, do justly, and walk humbly with God;' and what more doth God require of any man?"

If this interpretation be correct, then the philosopher's stone of the alchemist, and the spiritual temple of the Freemasons are identical symbols.

Phoenicians are an admixture of Sea Peoples, ShePHerd Kings and Canaanites. Before moving on to Carthage they gave up Canaan to the Hittite/Hebrews, who are otherwise known as the Hycsos and were being evicted from Egypt. Before settling down in Canaan the Hebrews were given a 40 year refresher course on what was expected of them, by the Horites (God - Top Dog Priests), at Mount Sinai.

Pharisees

A school among the Jews at the time of Christ, so called from the Aramaic Perushim, Seperated, because they held themselves apert from the rest of the nation. They claimed to have a mysterious knowledge unknown to the mass of the people, and pretended to the exclusive possession of the true meaning of the Scriptures, by virtue of the oral law and the secret traditions which having been recieved by Moses on Mount Sinai, had been transmitted to successive generations of initiates. They are supposed to have been essentially the same as the Assideans or Chasidim. The character of their organization is interesting to the Masonic student. They held a secret doctrine, of which the dogma of the resurrection was an important feature; they met in sodalities or societies, the members of which called themselves chabirim, fellows or associates; and they styled all who were outside of their mystical association, yom haharetz, or people of the land.

Gnostics

The general name of Gnostics has been employed to designate several sects that sprung up in the eastern parts of the Roman empire about the time of the advent of Christianity; although it supposed that their principle doctrines had been taught centuries before in many of the cities of Asia Minor. The word Gnosticism is derived from the Greek Gnosis or knowledge, and was a term used in the earliest daysof philosophy to signify the science of divine things, or as Matter says, "superior or celestial knowledge." He thinks the word was first used by the Jewish philosophers of the famous school of Alexandria. The favorite opinion of scholars is that the sect of Gnostics arose among the philosophers who were the converts of Paul and other Apostles, who sought to mingle the notions of the Jewish Egyptian school, the speculations of the Kabbalists, and the Grecian and Asiatic doctrines with the simpler teaching of the new religion which they had embraced. They believed that the writings of the Apostles enunciated only the articles of vulgar faith; but that there were esoteric traditions which had been translated from generation to generation in mysteries, to which they gave the name of Gnosticism or Gnosis. King says (Gnostics, p. 7,) that they drew the materials out of which they constructed their system from two religions, viz., the Zendavesta and its modifications in the Kabbala, and the reformed Brahmanical religion, as taught by the Buddhist missionaries,

Notwithstanding the large area of country over which this system of mystical philosophy extended, and the number of different sects that adopted it, the same fundamental doctrine was everywhere held by the chiefs of Gnosticism. This was, that the visible creation was not the work of the Suprme Deity, but of the Demiurgus, a simple emanation, and several degrees removed from the Godhead. To the latter, indeed, styled by them "the unknown Father," they attributed the creation of the unknown intellectual world, the Eons and Angels, while they made the creation of the world of matter the work of the Demiurgus.

Gnosticism abounded in symbols and legends, in talismans and amulets, many of which were adopted into the popular superstitions of the Mediaeval ages. It is, too, interesting to the student of masonic antiquities because of its remote connection with that Order, some of whose symbols have been indirectly traced to Gnostic origin. The Druses of Mount Lebanon were supposed to be a sect of Gnostics; and the constant intercourse which was maintained during the Crusades between Europe and Syria produced an effect upon the Western nations through the influence of the pilgrims and warriors.

Towards the Mancheans, the most prominent offshoot of Gnosticism, the Templars excercised a tolerant spirit very inconsistent with the professed objects of their original foundation, wich led to the charge that they were affected by the dogmas of Manicheism.

The strange ceremonies observed in the initiation into various secret societies that existed in the Lower Empire are said to have been modelled on the Gnostic rites of the Mithraic Cave.

The architects and stone-masons of the Middle Ages borrowed many of the principles of ornamentation, by which they decorated the ecclesiastical edifices which they constructed, from the abtruse symbols of the Gnostics.

So, too, we find Gnostic symbols in the Hermetic Philosophyand in the system of Rosicrucianism; and lastly many of the symbols still used by Fremasonry - such, for instance, as the triangle within a circle, the letter G, and the pentacle of Solomon - have been traced to a Gnostic source.

THE VOICE OF PERSIA

Edgar Allan Poe was a famous American poet, short story writer, journalist, and literary critic who lived from 1809-1849. He was born in Boston on January 19th, 1809 and was orphaned at an early age, after which he was sent to live with a foster family (The Allans) in Richmond. He was never officially adopted by the Allans and he was eventually disowned by the family.

Poe won a short story contest in 1833, and two years later became a literary critic for the magazine (The Southern Literary Messenger). Shortly after, he then married his 13-year-old cousin, Virginia in 1836. He became nationally famous upon the publication of his poem The Raven in 1845.

His life was marred by infrequent but intense drinking bouts which gave him a bad reputation. However, he continued to produce excellent short stories (Murders in the Rue Morgue, The Gold Bug) which brought him acclaim in America, England, and especially in France. Many of Poe's stories take place in Paris. (The French poet Baudelaire translated many of Poe's works)

Unfortunately, after the death of Poe's wife (1847), he fell apart and died two years later on October 7, 1849. Poe's controversial life and reputation have earned him the following comments :

"With the aid of his psychological stories, critics have proclaimed him necrophilic, dipsomanic, paranoid, impotent, neurotic, oversexed, a habitual taker of drugs, until all that is left in the public eye is an unstable creature sitting gloomily in a dim room, the raven over the door, the bottle on the table, the opium in the pipe, scribbling mad verses." The lines of men so arranged. 2. An onslaught or attack from all sides. 3. A severe trial; an ordeal.

Life under the dominance of foreign tax collectors (tollgaters) isn't easy for slaves who do their own shopping.

First, the tax collectors lend money to the government, money that they make out of thin air. This loan creates a debt on which interest is payable.

This interest is paid as taxes by the slaves who do their own shopping.

Then, the money lenders, with the profit they made on the debt, will buy the natural resources of the country and make a big profit on their resale. The slaves who do their own shopping thereby lose their birthright and therefore must perform work in order to survive.

Next, the tax collector takes a 30% (+) cut off of the earnings of the slave who does his/her own shopping, as he/she also pays the additional fees, licenses, permits and sales taxes.

Then, successful slaves who do their own shopping, called entrpreneurs, are allowed to build businesses which are then bankrupted by the money lenders, and the spoils assembled with those of others who have suffered the same fate, where miraculously, they are turned into successful transnational corporations that belong to the money lenders who bankrupted them in the first place.

As well, the government will ask these slaves who do their own shopping to volunteer their spare time doing works that will save the government money, money that can then be stolen by the agents of the tollgator.

Then, the government's 'nice' antipodean opposite bookend, called organized religion, will suggest that the slave who does his/her own shopping pay them 10% (+ or -) to amend for the guilt trips that they, religion and the media have fabricated, and later, for a valid passport to enter their dreamland heaven.

Finally, both the government and organized religion, with the media driving the getaway car, like the vultures they all are, prey upon the ex slaves who still do their own shopping, waiting to pick their bones clean after they die.

Ain't life GRAND.
